Orville releases Norm MacDonald’s video

Orville He released a new video in honor of cast member Norm MacDonald. MacDonald was a popular comedian during his five seasons Saturday Night Liveincluding three anchors Weekend update. He later played voice roles in Seth MacFarlane’s animated shows such as A man who loves family life Join MacFarlane’s live science fiction series The Orville, with the voice of space engineer Yvette. MacDonald passed away in September 2021, sometime after recording his lines for OrvilleThe long awaited third seasonwhich has now – along with his Emmy nomination, posthumously released the special Norm MacDonald: Nothing Special – forms part of his final work.

with Orville Season Three (aka Orville: New HorizonsNow, the chain has released a video praising MacDonald, showing many of his best moments as Yaphit, including a cameo in which Macdonald actually appears as Yaphit’s avatar. You can watch the video below.

MacDonald’s death at the age of 61 came at the end of a nine-year struggle with cancer, which was far from the public eye. MacFarlane paid tribute to MacDonald on social media following the star’s death.

“For many people in comedy, including myself, there has been no one funnier than Norm MacDonald,” he wrote on Twitter. “You always hoped he’d hang out after work was done, just so you could hear his stories and laugh. So hilarious and so generous with his character. I’ll miss him.”

OrvilleAn uncertain future now that the third season ends. MacFarlane is giving the series a 50-50 chance of renewing, though its recent move to Disney+ (as well as Hulu) could make a difference.

“I hope that when the show drops to Disney+, people who haven’t found out yet [The Orville] You’ll give him a chance all of a sudden.” TVLine. “That’s a potential game-changer for us. I think creatively and at an audience level, when people sit down and give the show a chance, it overturns their expectations. The biggest burden in the show is the preconceived notions. People think it’s one thing – there are people who think It’s a skit—and when they sit down to watch it, they realize it’s something completely different. Once you watch people’s eyeballs, the show does the work, it speaks for itself, and people tend to get drawn in.”
